Why organic products

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

Your skin is the largest living and breathing organ on your body. What you apply on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream and circulates in your body.

If you knew what toxins non-organic skin care products contained, you probably would think twice before useing them. No wonder, the increasing awareness is leading people to switch more and more to organic skin care products.

There are a lot of benefits and facts of organic skincare products. Here 5 to consider:

1. Non-organic skin care products contain harmful ingredients

Conventional skin care products contain synthetic chemicals such as sodium laurel, mineral oils, sulphates, and toxins. Studies have also found that they can contain mineral oil, petroleum, parabens, and other chemicals that, with long term use, can cause skin irritation, hormone imbalance, organ toxicity, and cancer.

Their chemical ingredients may provide instant visible results, but they mostly only help you aesthetically. On a long-term basis, these chemicals may damage your skin: oxygen exchange to the skin is reduced, causing premature aging and increased risk of developing sunspots, imperfections or breakouts.

2. Organic skin care products contain natural ingredients

Certified organic products are derived from plants and other naturally occurring ingredients, grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or other additives or chemicals. You can be sure your skin and body absorb only real, natural ingredients.

Natural organic ingredients such as coconut oil, honey, aloe vera, and shea butter, for example, will soothe, nourish, moisturize and promote smooth skin. Even though the results may be slower, organic skin care products are gentle on your skin and won’t harm you in the long run.

3. Organic products are non-allergenic

Organic skin care products are less likely to cause allergic reactions, inflammations or irritations. If an allergic reaction does occur with the use of organic products, it would most likely be due to a natural ingredient (i.e peanuts or strawberries), which is easier to identify.

4. Organic skin care products work better for your skin

Plants grown organically contain a higher level of vital antioxidant vitamins than non-organic plants. Up to 95% of an organic skin care product's contents are active ingredients whereas in synthetic skin care products, they only make up 5 to 10%.

Studies from the Cambridge University have shown that certified organic ingredients used in organic skincare contain up to 60% more antioxidants which your skin benefit from, too.

5. You're supporting the animals and environment

The beauty industry has been criticized for conducting animal testing. Organic products with natural ingredients can be tested directly on humans. When you choose organic skin care products, you also support the abolishment of animal testing.

As certified organic products use naturally grown ingredients, free from toxic pesticides and fertilizers they do not harm particularly the soil, water, and air. Every time you buy an organic skin care product, you also support the sustainability of our environment.

At ASKIN, I provide organic skin care products that are free from harmful toxins, so you can feel good about what you're putting on your skin.
